What is Datify?
Datify is a free Shopify App developed by JadePuma Apps. It provides a centralized command center for managing your product data, focusing on two key areas: defining allowed product types and managing your product category taxonomy. By combining powerful validation and bulk editing tools, Datify helps merchants enforce data standards and maintain consistent product organization across their entire catalog.
Why is consistent product data important for a Shopify store?
When products have missing or inconsistent product types, customers struggle to find the items they are looking for, and merchants cannot organize their inventory effectively. This leads to lost sales and operational inefficiencies. Datify directly addresses these issues by providing the tools needed to identify and correct data inconsistencies, ensuring a smoother experience for both you and your customers.
Who is Datify designed for?
Datify is ideal for Shopify merchants with extensive inventories who need efficient, scalable tools to manage their product data. If you have a large catalog, potentially with thousands of products, manually ensuring data consistency is an overwhelming task. Datify's bulk management features are specifically designed to help you enforce data standards across your entire product line with ease.
How does the Product Category Manager work?
The Product Category Manager is the heart of Datify's taxonomy tools. It allows you to create a "configuration," which is a defined set of rules for how your store's product categories should be organized. The manager visualizes your store's entire category tree, showing the count of products in each category. This helps you see how your products are currently classified and identify areas for improvement. It also integrates seamlessly with Shopify's AI, which provides suggestions (indicated by purple text in the Shopify admin) for more accurate categorization.
What management actions can I apply to product categories?
Within a configuration, you can assign a specific management action to each category in your taxonomy. These actions allow you to clean up and standardize your product classifications in bulk.
- Roll up to parent: Moves all products from a specific child category into the parent category directly above it.
- Force to child: Moves all products from a parent category down into a more specific child category.
- Migrate to sibling: Moves products from one child category to another child category that shares the same parent.
- Migrate to another category: Moves products from one category to any other category in the entire Shopify taxonomy.
- Keep this category: Marks a category as valid and acceptable for your store's taxonomy, requiring no changes.
- Exclude this category: Marks a category as one that should never be used in your store.
- Mark to take action: Flags a category to notify you that it requires future review or a manual decision.
What is Product Type Validation?
With this feature, you define a master list of "allowed product types" for your store. Datify then automatically validates every product against these standards. The app clearly identifies any products that have missing or invalid types, so you can see exactly which products need attention and correct them efficiently.
